Abhinav Shaw, a student of St. Vincent’s High & Technical School, Asansol, is the ‘Youngest State Shooting Champion’ with two gold and one silver medals. Following his father’s dream, Abhinav made air rifle shooting his passion from an early age of 10. The 15-year-old shares his name and passion for shooting with Abhinav Bindra who represented India at the Olympics. Abhinav created history by becoming the youngest gold medalist at the Khelo India Youth Games. Practising for 3-4 hours a day, he feels that patience and calmness are the keys to success in this sport. In 2022, he won his first international medal (silver) at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Germany at the age of 14. Following this, he won a gold at the 15th Asian Airgun Shooting Championship in November 2022, organised in South Korea. Abhinav has also won gold in the 10M Air Rifle Men (Youth) event, a silver in the 10M Air Rifle Men (Youth) Team event, and a bronze in the 10M Air Rifle (Junior) Mixed Team event at the All India KSS Memorial Shooting Championship, New Delhi. This 15-year-old has also been congratulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
