A press note released by Kolkata police on Wednesday night said: “A complaint has been received at Maidan police station from a cricket enthusiast wherein he alleged that owing to the connivance of the online portal Bookmyshow along with the officials of CAB and BCCI, general public are not getting tickets for the ensuing cricket match....”

Joint commissioner (crime), Kolkata police, Shankha Shubhra Chakrabarty, said a notice had been issued to the CAB asking for the appearance of a competent official of the body and an official of bookmyshow.com at Maidan police station on Thursday.

A senior CAB official said late on Wednesday evening: “The association is not involved with the matter in any way as the tickets came with the stamp on them today (Wednesday) itself. Thereafter, they were distributed to the clubs and districts.”

“Anyone can make any kind of allegation, but we have full faith in the police investigation. So, let’s wait till their investigation is over.”
