All doors of a Dakshineswar-bound Metro were stuck at Noapara station, preventing passengers from coming out or getting on the train.

The doors opened again as the train entered Baranagar station, the stop after Noapara.

A section of passengers allegedly turned aggressive.

Metro officials coaxed them to get back on the train, which left for the next — and terminal — station of Dakshineswar.

From Dakshineswar, the train changed tracks and left for New Garia. The passengers who could not get down at Noapara did so on the return journey.

“The snag at Noapara happened around 7.30pm. The agitation at Baranagar started around 7.40pm. It went on for over 10 minutes. Metro staff persuaded them to get back on the train,” said Ekalabya Chakraborty, the spokesperson of Metro Railway.

While snag-prone doors have for long plagued the city’s transport lifeline, the usual culprit is a single or more than one door in the train.

But all doors getting stuck at once was rare, said Metro officials.

“The train will be examined at the car shed,” said the spokesperson.
