Young golfers braved the heat to play stellar golf at RCTC

Amidst scorching temperatures at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) grounds, the Bengal Golf Association’s (BGA) Junior Monthly Medal 1.3 unfolded on April 21, showcasing remarkable talent and resilience among young golfers. Organised by the BGA and Protouch Sports, the tournament faced the challenge of extreme weather conditions, ultimately leading to its reduction to a nine-hole event.

Despite the adversity, young golfers displayed their skills with gusto. In a spectacular display of prowess, Arghya Shah emerged as the standout performer of the day, clinching victory in both the A&B Boys’ and the B Boys’ categories. Shah showcased exceptional skill and composure, shooting a commendable 4-over-par 41 in each category, securing his dominance on the leaderboard. In the closely contested A&B Boys’ category, Ananya Sagane put up a fierce fight, finishing just one stroke behind Shah with a score of 42, securing the second position. Meanwhile, in the B Boys’ division, Arrham Jain displayed formidable talent, claiming the runner-up spot with a score of 43. In the C Boys’ division, Aryaveer Agrawal showcased his prowess with a stellar performance, clinching victory with a score of 42, while Krishiv Rungta closely followed with a score of 43, securing the second position. In the D Boys’ category, Vir Nayar exhibited his skill and determination, topping the leaderboard with a score of 48, closely followed by Shaurish Sen with a score of 49. Similarly, in the E Boys’ category, Yugaansh Agarwal emerged victorious with a score of 49, with Ayansh Prasad securing the second position with a score of 55.

Turning to the girls’ categories, Pusti Khemka claimed victory in the A&B Girls’ division with a score of 52. In the C&D Girls’ division, Vaanyaa Rustagi showcased her talent, securing victory with a score of 48, followed by Myra Kaur Chandok with a score of 60.

Despite the challenges posed by the weather, the young golfers demonstrated remarkable skill, determination and sportsmanship, making the BGA’s Junior Monthly Medal 1.3 a memorable event for participants and spectators alike.
