Chapter tests are a must to gain confidence in individual chapters

Mathematics is one of those subjects where you can score easily in your board exams if you know the scoring sections. And to help you do just that, we at The Telegraph Online Edugraph bring you preparation and revision tips from Mr Subrato Roy, Mathematics Teacher, St. Augustine’s Day School, Shyamnagar.

Let us keep few tips and tricks in our mind as we prepare for the ICSE 2024 Class 10 Mathematics Paper:

  • Answer all questions. DO NOT JUMP STEPS. DO NOT FORGET TO WRITE THE SCALE. All these carry marks. Just pay attention to details.
  • The questions pattern remain the same as it has been for the past two years (please refer to your selection paper to get a better overview of the same)
  • Please focus on Statistics, Probability, and Algebra properly. Many questions come from these chapters. (Make sure to do them properly)
  • In case one gets stuck on any question for a long time, they should immediately switch to the next question and may re-attempt the same during revision.
  • Presentation of the answer sheet should be neat and clean.
  • Rough work should be clearly shown in the rough column so that the examiner may refer to that if there is any error while copying the values from rough.
  • Coming to geometry questions, figure drawing and correct labelling is a must wherever applicable. Students should draw figures with pencil and use geometrical instruments for construction. Geometrical traces shouldn’t be erased at all.
  • Do not use up too much time in graphs and construction. Time it properly.
  • Omission in steps will result in deduction of marks.

  • Make a list of formulas and theorems/properties used mostly and should go through it at regular intervals.
  • Also, revise model papers.
  • Chapter tests are a must to gain confidence in individual chapters.
