The ruling party of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan won a majority of seats in the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’s regional assembly, the head of the election commission announced on Monday.

Khan’s Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf won 25 seats in the 45-seat assembly in the poll, Chief Election Commissioner Abdul Rashid Sulehria said.

The Pakistan People’s Party of former Premier late Benazir Bhutto secured 11 seats, while the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took just six seats. Outgoing Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider contested two seats, losing one and winning the other by 300 votes.
