Pramit Dutta, 32, of Netaji Subhas Road, was passing by Vishwakarma Building when a string slashed his chin. He started bleeding profusely and was admitted to hospital.

Both incidents happened around 4.55pm at separate locations on the flyover, suggesting that more than one kite with glass-laced string was being flown in the area.

Several people have been injured by kite strings on the flyover over the past few years.

The National Green Tribunal had imposed a ban on manja ( a mixture of glass powder and gum) for kites but the police have not been able to stop the practice in the Park Circus and Entally areas.

Hossain was riding on the stretch of the flyover above the Boat Club when the string got entangled and sliced through the flesh of his thumb. He had to press the brakes and stop.

Hossain was taken to hospital, from where he was discharged after first-aid.
