Five Bangladeshi nationals of a family, including two women and two minor boys, were nabbed by the Border Security Force in Cooch Behar on Friday evening with over 1 lakh Bangladesh Taka, for alleged trespass.

Sources said that the troops of the 98th battalion of the central force posted at Cooch Behar’s Changrabandha border outpost intercepted them at VIP More while they were waiting for a vehicle headed for Siliguri.

Those nabbed are Shahin Khan, a resident of Kawmiakandi village in Dhaka district of Bangladesh, his wife Nahida Akhtar, his sister Luna Akhtar, and his two sons aged seven and six.

During preliminary investigation, the BSF came to know that the family had infiltrated India through an unfenced area near the Dahagram-Angarpota enclave — the last remaining Bangladesh enclave in India — and wanted to ultimately go to Delhi for the treatment of Nahida and Luna.

Altogether, 1,06,090 Bangladeshi Taka and two cell phones were recovered from them. All the five were handed over to Mekhliganj police.
