“The team was felicitated by Chowna Mein, deputy chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh on December 7 at Golden Pagoda Namsai,” said Group Captain Jai Kishan, principal of the HMI and also the leader of the expedition.

The information was shared by HMI on Sunday while marking International Mountain Day.

Mt Jongsong is the worlds highest tri- junction point between India, Nepal and China and part of the Janak Himal section of the Himalayan region in North Sikkim.

Jongsong is considered as one among the most technically difficult mountains to summit.

Climbers point to its lack of approach, frequent avalanches and dangerous cornices near the summit, said Group Captain Kishan.

The mountain was first summited in 1930, followed by the Himalayan Club of Calcutta in 2012.
