Sources said the bodies of Julekha Bibi, 28, along with her seven-year-old daughter Mariyam and five-year-old son Md Nabi, were found floating in a pond adjacent to their house at Koilapathar, a village under Ratua police station of the district.

Some locals informed the police who rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.

Julekha, who was from Dharampur village under Manikchak police station, was married to Lokman Ali of Koilapathar, a migrant worker, eight years back.

Abu Bakkar, Julekha’s father, claimed that on Sunday morning, they came to know that the bodies of her daughter and the grandchildren were found in the pond.

“My son-in-law would often fight with my daughter over certain issues. We suspect my daughter and the two children were throttled to death and the bodies were thrown into the pond. We want a thorough probe into the incident,” said Bakkar.

Police officers in Ratua said a case had been registered a case and they were waiting for the post-mortem reports of the three bodies.
