I have an iPhone 6s. An acquaintance of mine is tracking my location. I do not know how, but that person probably has my Facebook and email account details including the passwords.

Open the Find My Friends app on your phone. Tap on your picture at the bottom. Turn off Share My Location. Next, open the Facebook app. Tap on the menu icon at the bottom right. Navigate to Settings and Privacy and choose Settings. Scroll down and under Privacy, you will find Location. Tap on it. Under Your Device Settings, for Location select Never. Also, remember to turn off Location History.

You should check your Whats-App settings too. Open the app and go to Settings—Accounts—Privacy. Make sure Live Location is set to None. You must seriously consider changing the password for both your Facebook and Apple accounts.

Restore photos

I recently deleted some pictures from my phone gallery. Is there a way to get them back from Google Photos where they were also backed up?

Ritam Gorai

All you have to do is open the Google Photos app and tap on the menu icon on the top left next to the search bar. Choose Trash. Tap and hold the pictures you want to select. Click on Restore. They will be put back in the gallery. Photos in trash stay there for 60 days after which they are automatically deleted.

Drive diagnostics

I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 Professional as the operating system. It was working all right but now it displays a message, “Launch Startup Repair (recommended)”. When I do so, I am told that it cannot be repaired and that I should report the problem to Microsoft.

Bhartendu Sharma

Start by running a diagnostic on your hard drive. Switch on the computer and when you see the Dell logo, press F12. Choose Diagnostics and opt for an extended diagnostics of your hard drive. If the diagnostic passes, you will have to reinstall Windows. If it fails, then you will have to replace the hard drive as it has become defective.

Malware scan

When I start my Windows 7 PC, a message appears saying “There was a problem starting C:\users\user\AppData\ Roaming\newnext.me \nengine.dll. The specified module could not be found”. The computer boots and works without any glitch when I click on OK. What should I do in order to stop this message from appearing?

B.N. Bhattacharya

An unwanted program called Nextlive that is related to nengine.dll was installed in your PC without your knowledge. This usually happens when you instal some free software with which this program is bundled. This program can change your browser settings such as your default search engine and the home page. To get rid of it, download the free version of Malwarebytes from https://www.malwarebytes.com. Install it on your PC and perform a full scan. When the scan is complete, click on OK, and then Show Results. Tick everything except those in the C:\System Volume Information folder and click on Remove Selected.
