The police claimed Lee murdered his wife because she suspected him of having an extramarital affair and the two often fought over this. The father was killed because he had seen his son attacking his wife.

“The murder took place around 7pm. Lee left the house soon after. He returned a little over an hour later and raised the alarm,” an officer of the detective department’s homicide section in Lalbazar said. “He tried to prove his innocence by saying he was not around. The second murder was to do away with evidence because his father had seen him hitting his wife with a bucket.”

Investigations have revealed that Lee kept hitting his wife with a bucket till she died of injuries.

Li had apparently found out he was into an extramarital relation and would often question him about his late return to home at night.

The two had got into a fight on Friday afternoon, the officer said.

In the evening, Lee picked up a bucket and attacked his wife. He used the same bucket to hit his father in a fit of rage, the police said.

The woman had been declared dead at NRS hospital. The man died of injuries later at the hospital.

Lee had left the house from the rear after bolting the front door from inside, the officer said. “Lee kept changing his statement before breaking down and confessing to the crime. We will wait for the final post-mortem report before drawing up a chargesheet.”
