Salt Lake: The Techno India University on Friday set up a fact-finding committee to investigate a teacher's allegations about students cheating at an exam.

A teacher who was one of the invigilators at the BTech final semester exam posted on social media that students caught cheating didn't stop even after invigilators asked them not to.

The teacher claimed in her post that the private university authorities took no action against the students when the matter was brought to their notice.

"I was supposed to carry out my duties as an invigilator for the final-year engineering students. The exam started at 2pm. Within seconds of question papers being distributed, students started talking among themselves, calling out answers.... A week before the exams began, all invigilators were given instruction sheets where we were told not to tolerate cheating.

"Once the exam started, we were to overlook that particular instruction. We were asked to ignore if students were found cheating...," the teacher said in her post.

Anit Adhikari, a Techno India Group official, said the authorities hadn't received any complaint from any teacher regarding the matter. But the allegations are being investigated, he said.

"We are aware about the complaint posted by one of our teachers on social media. But we haven't received any formal complaint. But a fact-finding committee has been formed to investigate the matter. Action will be taken if the allegations are found to be true," Adhikari said.

The university will not tolerate any malpractice during examinations, he said.
