Three held for molestation

Three men have been arrested in connection with the alleged outrage of modesty of some students of Jadavpur University while they were demonstrating against the National Register of Citizens and the Citizenship (Amendment) Act at Baghajatin on Sunday night.

The three have been identified as Sayan Lahiri, Sourav Sarkar and Suman Kalyan Das. Sources said they were members of a political party that has been supporting the NRC and CAA.

The students mentioned in their complaint lodged with Jadavpur police station that the gang had attacked them with wooden sticks and molested them before breaking their cameras.

Two cases have been started based on as many complaints. One has been registered under the IPC sections related to wrongful restraint, physical assault, outrage of modesty, criminal intimidation and common intention and the other under the IPC sections related to outrage of modesty and criminal intimidation.
