Little Santas will sprint through Eco Park this Sunday morning.

The fifth edition of Junior Horlicks Kiddathon 2019, organised by Ladies Circle India and partnered by TTIS, will have Santa Run as its theme.

“All big cities in the world — London, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Singapore, Madrid and Stockholm — have a Santa Run. So, we thought of doing one here, too. The idea is to

be a Santa to another kid by raising money for his/her education, health and social needs. We are running an online contest, #LetterToSanta, where participants can write to Santa Claus and win a chance to stand first at the start line and bag loads of gifts,” said Nikita Khilani, director, Kiddathon.

Around 1,500 children aged up to 14 years will take part in the event that will be flagged off from Eco Park Gate 1.

The kids can lace up for any of five races — 4km, 2km, 1.25km for eight years and above, 1.25km for below eight years and Mom N Me (600m). Children below eight years will run in Santa suits, while participants in 4km, 2km and 1.25km (8years and above) will be dressed in white, red and white T-shirts, respectively.

The first run (4km) will begin at 7.20am and the last one — Mom N Me — at 9.30am. Each finisher will get a Santa medal and gifts. “We have planned an exciting Christmas Carnival post the run with a Hamleys stall being the star attraction,” said Nidhi Khetawat, the chairperson of Calcutta Central Ladies Circle 27.

The proceeds from the event will be spent on underprivileged kids — building school toilets in upcountry Bengal and sponsoring kids diagnosed with cancer.
