Two pedestrians were killed in accidents across the city between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon.

A pedestrian was killed near Quest mall in Park Circus around 4.30pm on Wednesday when a pickup truck hit him while he was crossing Shamsul Huda Road, according to eyewitnesses.

Mohammed Naushad, 65, a resident of Jhowtala Lane, died of injuries at AMRI Hospitals in Dhakuria.

Officers of Karaya police station have seized the vehicle and arrested the driver. Investigations showed the truck’s fitness certificate had expired in February 2018.

On Tuesday night, Susanta Banerjee, 45, a resident of Sodepur, was killed after a Matador hit him near Karunamoyee bridge in Tollygunge.
