Kolkata Metro fares to increase for the first time in six years

Kolkata Metro is going to revise its fares for the first time in six years, sources confirmed on Tuesday evening.

Kolkata Metro is going to revise its fares for the first time in six years, sources confirmed on Tuesday evening. The revision will be implemented across fare slabs, and will be effective from 5 December 2019. The Kolkata Metro, governed by the Indian Rail Board will usher in this revision after a recent precedence of mismanagement and accidents which has invited much public ire. According to sources, the decision to hike fares was taken and sanctioned in order to make the present system more efficient, better services and risk management.

Old fares will be levied till 4 December, and the new fares will come into effect from 5 December 2019.

Metro fares are going to be revised, effective 5 December 2019. This decision has been effected to better our services.
