Orko’ss rang in its 15th anniversary with a spooky decor in the semi-lit bar where a creepy-looking clutch of women moved about.

The day coincidentally was Halloween. “And there are no other occasion till next month. So we’ve decided to organise a Halloween week, to continue till November 9,” said Arindam Maity, general manager of the City Centre bar and eatery.

The menu of the bar has been revised in keeping with the occasion. From 7pm to midnight, on offer will be unlimited starters, main course and liquor at Rs 1,399. There are three kinds of Halloween platters. The non-vegetarian one, priced Rs 629, will have two pieces each of Chicken Reshmi Kebab, Fish Fry, Mutton Seekh Kebab, Mutton Roghan Josh in starters followed by Prawn Masala, a Butter Naan, Alur Dom, ghee bhaat, Dal Makhni, raita, chutney and papad.

The vegetarian one, at Rs 524, has Paneer Tikka, Corn Kebab and Bharwan Alu in starters and Dal Makhni, Corn Palak, Paneer Butter Masala and Malai Kofta with the other items in the main course. “We can also make Veg Biryani, pulao, luchi or kochuri on request in place of naan and ghee bhaat,” said Maity. There is also a kebab platter at Rs 734, with varieties in prawn, chicken, mutton and fish.

The menu card reads like a ghost story, told in culinary style — Devil Chicken Curry and Smashan Kali Mandirer Dal to Putul Barir Chicken Biryani (in a nod to the allegedly haunted house of that name near Sovabazar jetty). The dessert section too has that touch in Dainibarir Halwa and Black Magic Ice cream.

The restaurant is running a contest simultaneously for best Halloween selfie and best food decor in Halloween style on its Facebook page, with gift vouchers as prizes.

The first claimants might be the women who attended the Halloween party cum birthday bash. “We are members of a Facebook group called Sari Shayeri,” said Panchali Dutta, the founder. “We were planning a Bijoya Sammelani when this offer came from Orko’ss.” And for the zombie-like looks, the women queued up in front of a group member Lunasri Mondal, who is a make-up artiste. “No one is ready to look really ghastly,” she complained, adding a gash to someone’s forehead. Soon after, a spooky cake, baked by another group member Susmita Ghosh, was cut.
