Teachers, social workers and media personnel have come together to start online classes in Nepali for Madhyamik students in the Darjeeling hills from Monday.

The Sanyukta Madhyamik Sikshak Kalyan Sangathan, Headmasters’ Association and Kalimpong Television are partnering for the online teaching, while the logistical support is given by the Mani Trust, a social organisation headquartered in Kalimpong.

“We are recording classes which will be telecast from 11am on Monday. We will simultaneously upload our programmes on Youtube and Facebook,” KTC director Narendra Tamang said.

So far, 14 teachers have signed up for the programme.

On Monday, classes will be held on mathematics, geography and life science. Each class would be of half-an-hour.

The organisations said there was a plan to hold similar online teaching sessions for Class XII students after few days.
