The UK-based Cambridge board, which has at least seven affiliated schools in the city, has cancelled the Class X and XII examinations scheduled for May and June.
“The situation with the Covid-19 outbreak is changing rapidly. In recent days, many more countries have decided to extend school closures into May and June, making it impossible for many of our schools to hold examinations... we have taken the difficult decision not to run our international examinations in the May/June 2020 series in any country. This includes Cambridge IGCSE (Class X), Cambridge O level (Class X), Cambridge International AS (Class XI) & A level (Class XII)...” said an update from Cambridge International.
Garden High International School, The Heritage School, Calcutta International School, Gems Akademia International School, Vidyanjali International School, Bridge International School and The Cambridge School are affiliated to the Cambridge board.
“We recognise that students have been working very hard towards these exams. We will be working with schools to assess students’ achievements.... Students will receive a grade and a certificate from Cambridge International, given the knowledge and skills they have acquired in their programmes of study,” the board said.
“We will talk to the board and decide on the mode of evaluation,” said Anuradha Das, director, Garden High International School.
