Salman in Arunachal to flag off bicycle race

The actor, along with some ministers, took part in a 10km bicycle ride at Mechuka

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan arrived at Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district to flag in the second edition of the Mountain Terrain Biking (MTB) Arunachal Mountain Bicycle race on Thursday.

The culmination of the race coincided with the beginning of the sixth edition of the Annual Mechuka Adventure Festival, which was attended by Union minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu.

Salman, along with the ministers, took part in a 10km bicycle ride at Mechuka.

The actor also attended the award distribution ceremony of the bicycle race. Martin and Sarah from Germany topped the Open Men Solo and Open Women Solo categories, David and Rakesh won the Team Of Two award, the student’s award was bagged by Ashish from Hero Action Team, Datta Patil won the Master’s 40+, Menjo was declared the Best Arunachal Rider, Marca Sangma was declared the Best Para Rider and 14-year-old Malav Dutta won the Promising Riders award.

The three-day adventure festival, jointly organised by the Union tourism ministry and the state tourism department, showcased an array of local food, culture and music.

Salman, while admiring the beauty of the frontier state, promised to shoot for his upcoming film in the state.

Khandu thanked the actor for his contribution in promoting tourism in the state.
