“On Saturday morning at 8am we got a call from villagers of Sonaram Sadhu Sannyasi that two children including Bishal Tanti, 9, and Rupali Tanti, 5, were found dead in their house. When we reached the spot, we found the bodies of their parents Paresh, 40, and his wife Sandhani, 32, hanging from a nearby tree. They were day labourers. As per a preliminary investigation, the couple first poisoned their two children to death and then committed suicide by hanging themselves. Preliminary investigation also found that they were neck-deep in debts and were unable to pay. We have recovered the bodies and sent those for post-mortem,” superintendent of police, West Tripura, Manik Das told this correspondent.

Das said: “We got another information that a decomposed body was found at Katakhal, a small canal, in Agartala. We rushed to the spot and recovered it. The body was totally decomposed. However later it was identified as that of one Rakesh Deb, 19. We came to know from his family that he was missing for the last five days. They did not lodge any FIR with the police. We handed over the body to them after post-mortem.

In another incident, a man died when his bike collided with another one this afternoon in the Mohanpur area. The deceased has been identified as Gobinda Debnath, 34.”

Early on Saturday morning the police recovered body of an unidentified person in Unakoti district.

Meanwhile, the police of Sepahijala district said they had recovered the body of one Keshab Das, 38, who was murdered at Konaban late on Friday night.

“This morning we had recovered the body of a 38-year-old from Konaban. Most probably he was murdered on Friday night. The reason is still unknown. We are investigating the case and so far no one has been arrested,” a police officer said requesting anonymity.
