Haque was rescued by the police on December 16 from Jagdamba tea estate in Jakhalabandha but the suspected kidnappers managed to escape.

However, acting on specific information, Dolamara police apprehended the two on Saturday for allegedly abducting Haque. They were arrested under Section 364 of the IPC (case No. 4/19) after verification of facts.

The confessions of the arrested duo during interrogation led to the recovery of a countrymade gun, a few rounds of ammunition and gun powder from the forests of Langhunjar hill.

Investigations are on, the police said.
