The adventure festival is returning to the city after a hiatus of eight years.

A similar festival was organised at the three venues in February 2012.

“We are organising the festival to encourage students in rural areas and give them an opportunity to take part in adventure sports, as they rarely get an opportunity to enjoy adventure sports. All the activities would be organised free for the students. Students coming from far away places will be allowed to stay in the camp during the three-day fest,” said East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla.

Sources in the district administration confirmed that in consultation with the private agency empanelled by the state tourism department it was decided to organise the festival in one spot.

“We had planned to organise the adventure festival in different landmarks in and near Jamshedpur. While the ground sports would have been conducted at Dalma forest, water sports would have been held at Dimna and aerial sports at Sonari Airport. However, after consultation with Giridih-based National Adventure Foundation we decided to conduct all the activities in and around Dimna because it would have been difficult to coordinate with the three spots at one time,” said a senior administrative official.

In the water sports category, banana ride, wakeboarding/ringo/water roller and kayaking will be organised at the scenic Dimna Lake, while ground sports comprising crossing and zipline, rock climbing, rappelling and rope course will be conducted near Tata Management Centre in an artificial 25ft wall.

Trekking will be conducted at Dalma Hill, around 25km from

Dimna Lake, while parasailing and paramotor as part of aero sports will be conducted at the vacant stretch near Bhadodih close to Dimna.

The adventure sports will conclude at 5pm. Free meals will be provided to all the students staying at the camp and cultural events would be organised in the evening.
