Little things — a hug, a homemade card, an offer to do the dishes or a cup of coffee — are things a mother will always remember.
Children of all ages made many steel city mothers happy on Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Eight-year-old Rajvansh Singh Bhatia, a Class III student of DBMS English School, made butterscotch shake, omelette and toast and treated his mother Manmeet Bhatia to this yummy breakfast. Rajvansh also helped her in the kitchen with her chores and massaged her feet to make her feel extra special on this day. Manmeet, who is expecting her second child, couldn’t stop gushing about how Rajvansh thought of going the extra mile on Mother’s Day.
Manmeet said: “I have no words to express how overwhelmed I am. Though he is a very caring child, I felt he has grown up to take care of me on Mother’s Day. He made these dishes for me and it is the thought that matters the most. I hope he grows to be a loving and caring person.”
Eleven-year-old Lavanya Annya, who’s a class VI student of Sacred Heart Convent School, swept her house on Sunday and made rotis for her mother Sukanya Das, a corporate executive.
Sukanya said: “Nobody helped my child in making rotis. Her only demand was that we cannot complain about their shapes!”
Students of Hill Top School, Telco, made a video collage on Mother’s Day. Class VII students Tanvi Pankaj and Akshita Pandey; class X students Priyanka Biswas and Romit Dutta and class XII students Aditya Singh and Srijita Dey edited, compiled pictures and coordinated to make the Mother's Day special.
Principal of Hill Top School Puneeta B Chouhan said: “The students contacted other students in their neighbourhood and asked them for pictures dedicated to their mothers. They divided themselves into groups taking charge of sound, editing, quotes and assembled a beautiful video which I have uploaded on social media.”
The Little Flower School, also in Telco, announced on Sunday, results of their lockdown contest especially on mothers. Results on various competitions like “We’re gonna dance” in which children were to dance with their mothers, “Rangoli platter” making rangoli with fruits and vegetables, “Mom’s runway”, with mothers dressing up as historical characters and “Sing with me today”, a fusion singing with old and new songs and a video on “Prayer for peace” were announced. Ranita Karmakar, a teacher, said the contest started on April 25 and ended on May 2 with hundreds of entries.
