Food minister and MLA Saryu Roy has resolved to ensure that localities under his constituency — Jamshedpur West — are hygienic this monsoon.

As part of this, Roy held a meeting of BJP workers at his official residence in Bistupur here on Sunday to set up 23 panels who would monitor the cleaning done in Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) and Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC) areas.

Each committee of 15 members will spare two hours every Sunday to monitor the cleaning done by civic bodies in various areas and submit their reports to Roy the same night so as to help him swiftly decide his plan of action for each specific zone.

Talking to the media, Roy said civic cleanliness in monsoon was the key to health in view of vector-borne diseases caused due to waterlogging.

The minister said power supply in Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam (JBVNL) command areas in Jamshedpur was also on his mind. “On Saturday, I met executive engineers of Jamshedpur and Mango divisions to know the extent of work done by private agency Voltas (engaged to lay underground cables). They will hand me a report on this on July 1,” Roy said.
