Tata Archery Training Centre cadets topped the podium in two separate national competitions held earlier this month.

Ashok Soren claimed gold in 50m compound event in the Open National Meet conducted at Panipat in Haryana from January 17 to 19, while Deepak Kisku topped the compound 50m category at the 6th National School Games Archery Championship in Ranchi between January 18 and 21.

Both the tribal archers are from modest backgrounds and train hard to progress in archery. Ashok and Deepak train under Ranjit Gope at the cradle run by Tata Steel sports wing.

“Both my students are hard working and are pursuing the game seriously. Ashok and Deepak seldom skip daily training sessions. I am proud of their performance and I am sure they would make further progress in the game,” said Gope.

Tata Steel sports wing has congratulated Ashok and Deepak for their exploits.

Boys and girls from across the steel city hone their skills under experienced coaches at the Tata cradle.

Training is conducted at archery ground inside JRD Tata Sports Complex.

Cadets from the training centre have won medals at national-level competitions on earlier occasions too.
