Jamshedpur, Sept. 19: The 22nd anniversary of Prabhat Sangit was celebrated at The Milanee hall today to pay homage to the spiritual guru of Ananda Margis, formerly known as Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar.

The cultural wing of the Ananda Margi Pracharak Sangh, Renaissance Artists? and Writers? Association (Rawa) presented a host of programmes to commemorate compositions by the founder member of the Sangh.

?Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar, established the organisation in 1955. He composed his first song in 1982 at Deoghar and this is the 22nd year. All the 5,018 songs scripted by Sarkar are called Prabhat Sangeet,? said Sunil Anand, secretary, Rawa. The spiritual compositions are known to Anand Margis all over the world.

?The fraternity has a following in 22 countries. Jamshedpur alone has nearly 10,000 followers. The cultural programme organised by the association is based on these songs. All the performances have some of the songs of Sarkar as the background score,? said Anand.

Amir Das, a former judge of Patna High Court, inaugurated the programme by paying floral tributes to Sarkar.

Bacchhan Pathak ?Salil? was the guest of honour for the evening. The evening was flagged off by a dance followed by songs.
