CM Hemant Soren on Thursday asked education minister Jagarnath Mahto to probe into a complaint tweeted by a Class XI student of LBSM College in Karandih, Gumdi Besra, about not being given the admit card for Intermediate first-year exam. Allegedly, college authorities did not send the student’s form to Jharkhand Academic Council.

Govt on schools

The Jharkhand government on Thursday informed the Assembly that all schools that had been closed in the state would be re-opened. Replying to a debate in the ongoing budget session over “Income and Expenditure for the financial year 2020-21”, finance minister Rameshwar Oraon said the government would appeal to retired teachers to spend an hour or two in schools with shortage of teachers. He said the government had focused on the social sector to ensure roti, kapda aur makan to the people in the budget.

Jayant on Atal hubs

MP Jayant Sinha on Thursday shot a missive to Niti Ayog’s CEO Amitabh Kant for setting up Atal Incubation Centre at the Vinoba Bhave University and Atal Tinkering Lab at the town’s DAV Public School. On the incubation centre, he said if it got an okay, it would be the first in Jharkhand and help the varsity with over 1.5 lakh students.

Train cancelled

Due to ongoing technical work in Bilaspur division, 12812 Hatia-Lokmanya Tilak Terminal Bi-weekly Express is cancelled on Friday.

Found hanging

Hari Anthony, 61, who stayed at a rented flat in Phase VII in Adarshnagar, Sonari, was found hanging on Thursday. Police called it suicide and said Anthony had financial problems.

Mines mishap

Three contract miners of India Fabrication and Machinary, working on behalf of SAIL, were injured in a mines mishap at Chasnala colliery on Thursday. Injured Md Sagir, 45, S.K. Irshad, 50, Md Nasim Khan, 50, are out of danger.

East Singhbhum DC Ravi Shankar Shukla on Thursday directed JBVNL to ensure power connections in households of beneficiaries of central government schemes by March-end.

Sayantan Bag of Tagore Academy won the online semi-final of Classmate Spell Bee held in Mumbai.

Road accident

Two persons were killed and three others injured when a mini truck rammed into a stationary hydra crane near a petrol pump at East Basuria, around 8km from Dhanbad district headquarters, on Thursday morning.

The front part of the mini truck was mangled under the impact of the collision.

The deceased have been identified as Ramkhelawan Bhuian and Prakash Malakar of Aam Bagan in Bhuli, while the injured were Jitendra Kumar, Kalu Bhuian and Ajay Bhuian.

Snatch cuffs on duo

Two young men were arrested for snatching a silver chain from another youth at Jubilee Park under Bistupur police station on Thursday afternoon.

Mohammed Afroz and Mohammed Zulkarnain, both residents of Mango, were nabbed by passers-by and handed over to police who recovered the chain and arrested the duo.

Bistupur officer in-charge (OC) Rajesh Prakash Sinha said it was not a simple snatching case. The chain was yanked off by the duo from the youth’s nech after an altercation.
