“The woman had complained of chest pain around 9.30pm on Tuesday,” principal health secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni said. “Since this was a medical emergency she was given permission to move out of the containment zone along with her husband. She reached RIMS and this has been mentioned in the log book of RIMS.”

She was examined by a doctor who found her to be fit and fine, Kulkarni said.

“Since she had come from a containment zone, the doctors decided to take her swab for a test. While the bed transfer process was going on they (the woman and her husband) fled from RIMS and they switched off their mobile phones. But we have retrieved their call details and they will be tracked very soon,” he said.

RIMS sources said the woman is 36 years old.

Ranchi deputy commissioner Rai Mahimapat Ray said that the administration was trying to locate her. “We are trying to trace her,” he said.

Health secretary Kulkarni also informed about a death at RIMS early on Wednesday.

“The deceased was identified as the brother of a Covid-19 patient who is now cured. The person who died today (Wednesday) was admitted at Anjuman Islamia Hospital due to livers problems. At 4.40am he was taken to RIMS. He died around 5.30am,” he added.
