A delegation of trade outfits met Jamshedpur East MLA and former minister Saryu Roy at the latter’s Bistupur residence on Wednesday, requesting economic activities be resumed in industrial belt Kolhan.

Members of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the largest trade outfit of Kolhan, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and ACMA (the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India) told Roy that resuming trade in Kolhan, which is Covid-19-free, will only help people at large in an already crippled economy.

Kolhan has three districts, East and West Singhbhums, and Seraikela-Kharsawan, which are so far in the green zone with no Covid-19 cases so far.

For the sake of precaution, chief minister Hemant Soren on Sunday decided against relaxations in the state’s ‘green zone’ areas, too.

Roy told the delegation that he would speak to the chief minister in this regard and will get back to them.

The delegation was led by the SCCI president Ashok Bhalotia. Other members of the SCCI included Bharat Vasani, Rajen Kamani, Vijay Moonka, Manav Kedia and Anil Modi.

The CII was represented by its Jharkhand council chairman Sanjay Sabherwal.

The ACMA was represented by Dipak Dokania, an industrialist.
