This year, the Run-a-thon will be based on the theme ‘Run for a Greener Tomorrow’.

The Run-a-thon will be flagged off from Noamundi Sports Complex at 6.30am and after meandering through the Tata Steel township will come back to the starting point.

There will be different events for various categories of runners. Apart from the 10km and 7km run for men and women, respectively, there will be a 5km run for boys and girls in the 12-15 age group. A 2km run for persons with disabilities will also be conducted.

“This year, the maximum limit of registrations was kept at 5,000 to ensure safety of runners. The registrations got full before October 10,” a Tata Steel official, who is overseeing the preparations, said.

This time, an outdoor fitness workshop with Striders, a fitness training group that trains running enthusiasts for competition, was also organised to help local participants prepare for the final run.

The steel major has collaborated with Tata Global Beverages to provide fruit-flavoured drink along with water to the runners.
