Struggling in the previous warm-up game, India have another chance to get their house in order before the first of the four-match Test series versus Australia when they face Australia A in another practice game beginning on Friday.

This tour game, to be played at the SCG, will also serve as a dress rehearsal for the Indians as well as some of the Australian players for the much-awaited Day-Night pink-ball Test in Adelaide.

The Indian management may look to test certain combinations in this pink-ball warm-up game, particularly at the top with Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill not doing too well at Drummoyne Oval. How the openers fare could give India an idea as to what their opening combinations should be for the Adelaide Test as well as the other holes they may need to plug.

It also remains to be seen if skipper Virat Kohli would be a part of this game, while the visitors do need to ensure both Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami bowl a few overs at least to be in rhythm ahead of the first Test. The duo bowling straightaway in a Test may not be too wise an idea.

Besides, giving Rishabh Pant a go is another option at India’s disposal and if he does well with the bat, he could well be having more than a decent chance to be the first-choice wicketkeeper-batsman for the first Test from December 17.
