Fresh from their emphatic 5-0 romp against NorthEast United FC, East Bengal will hope for another three points against Punjab FC when they cross swords in the ISL-X match at the Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday.

The 5-0 win last Monday was East Bengal’s biggest-ever win in ISL and fans would be hoping for something similar against a team who are still searching for their maiden victory in the league.

“We understand that it was just a victory at home. When you come from four winless games, one game is not going to put you in the sky. We are conscious that we have to keep doing our work,” East Bengal coach Carles Cuadrat said at the pre-match news conference on Friday.

The hosts will be bogged down by Harmanjot Singh Khabra’s left knee injury.

“Tests have revealed he has suffered a partial ligament tear. It’s still not clear whether he would be out for the season,” Cuadrat said.

Khabra suffered the injury early in the first half and was replaced by Mohammad Rakip.

East Bengal will be banking on Nandhakumar Sekar, who had a good game against NorthEast United.

Coming off the bench after the change of ends, Nandhakumar scored a brace and had an assist.
