Premier League champions Manchester City signed off in style by thrashing Everton 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium last night. Sergio Aguero, who played his last game in City colours, scored a brace and went past Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney. Aguero now has the most goals for a Premier League club (184), breaking Rooney’s tally of 183 goals for the Red Devils. Now, after winning five league titles, one FA Cup and six League Cups in ten years, he is set to leave the Cityzens.

But the Aguero story doesn’t end there.

The Argentine is close to signing a deal with La Liga giants Barcelona, according to City coach Pep Guardiola. “Maybe I reveal a secret. Maybe he is close to agreeing a deal for the club of my heart - for Barcelona. He is going to be playing alongside the best player of all time, Messi,” Guardiola told BBC. Guardiola’s statement comes after rumours of Aguero agreeing upon a two-year contract with Barca started doing the rounds last week.

Barca have won two La Liga titles and two Champions League crowns under Guardiola.

Juventus, AC Milan through to Champions League

With the Serie A season over, Juventus can finally breathe a sigh of relief. After all, they’ve managed a Champions League berth, which looked like a long shot three weeks ago. Juve registered an emphatic 4-1 away win over Bologna, thanks to goals by Federico Chiesa, Alvaro Morata and Adrien Rabiot. Although he was open to taking the field, Ronaldo was benched due to fatigue. “It was a shared choice, Ronaldo was tired after the fatigue on Wednesday. He made himself available to the team but I chose to have another player named Morata play, who is not the latest arrival. I have a quality team, with many choices available,” Juve coach Andrea Pirlo told AFP.

On qualifying for the UCL, Pirlo was all smiles. “We struggled, we were afraid, but during this end to the season we understood the direction we need to go in and we finished off with a Coppa Italia and Champions League qualification. Everything has happened, it was a complicated year but I needed it to grow and improve,” he said.

AC Milan, who managed a 2-0 win over Atalanta, finished at number two in the points table, and Napoli had to settle for a Europa League spot after finishing at number five with 77 points. Milan had missed finalising their UCL berth after their previous game versus Cagliari ended in a goalless draw. But, better late than never. “We deserved the Champions League as well as second place. We went through the whole championship at the top, unfortunately we had thrown away the match point last Sunday. I'm really excited, happy, I have to thank the club because they made us work in a spectacular way,” Milan coach Stefano Pioli told AFP.
