The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB)’s official announcement of ticket prices for the ODI World Cup games at Eden Gardens apparently hasn’t gone down too well with the BCCI.

It has been learnt that the state association’s decision to announce the ticket prices last week without consulting the BCCI has somewhat irked the Board.

Incidentally, former BCCI and CAB president Sourav Ganguly visited the Eden on Monday and was there for close to two hours. Asked if he had any suggestion for the state association on the matter, Sourav said: “This is totally the CAB’s jurisdiction. They’ll deal with it.”

A senior CAB officer later said: “Sourav was here mainly to know how Eden Gardens’ renovation was going, while we also discussed aboutstadium upgradation.”

Whether the ticket prices for the Eden matches are revised or remain the same, the CAB is confident of sorting everything out “at the earliest”.

Sourav, on the other hand, was effusive in his praise for opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hit a 171 on his India debut in the first Test against the West Indies in Dominica.

According to Sourav, having Jaiswal in India’s World Cup squad is a “must”.

“Scoring a hundred on debut is always massive. I too have done it, so I know how special it is.

“Even technique-wise, he seems really good. A left-handed batsman’s presence in the team always helps. So, having him in the World Cup squad is a must,” Sourav emphasised.
