India pacer Mohammed Shami, who recently underwent surgery for an injured ankle, said on Wednesday that his stitches have been removed, marking a significant step in his healing process.
Expressing satisfaction with his recovery, Shami said he was looking forward to the next phase of his recovery.
“Hello everyone! I wanted to provide an update on my recovery process. It has been 15 days since my surgery, and I recently had my stitches removed. I am thankful for the advancements and looking forward to the next stage of my healing journey,” Shami wrote on X, along with three photographs.
The fast bowler was a key performer with 24 wickets in the 2023 ODI World Cup where he played with the injury and recently missed the five-match Test series against England.
He has also been ruled out from the upcoming IPL due to the surgery.
Shami took injections to relieve him of the pain during the World Cup as he had problems with his landing but didn’t let it affect his performance.
He will now report to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for rehab and is likely to be available from the home series against Bangladesh in September.
The BCCI confirmed that Prasidh Krishna too will miss the IPL. Both Shami and Krishna have been ruled out of the T20 World Cup.
