Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have circled on batting and bowling in the Powerplay overs as the areas where they need to step up after three straight losses.

“It’s about Powerplay batting and Powerplay bowling. If we can really step up in these two things, I think that will add to our chances,” KKR bowling coach Bharat Arun said on Saturday, the eve of their clash against Chennai Super Kings at the Eden.

“If we look hard at those areas and understand where we have gone wrong, it’s an opportunity to do well. Besides, it’s very difficult to maintain a winning momentum in the IPL.”

Senior India quicks Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur are yet to have any impact with the ball. “But that’s not much of a concern,” Arun said.

“If you look at the first two games, Umesh bowled pretty well. He has given away few runs, so it’s not a major cause of worry. This year we haven’t got the wickets as we expected, but definitely we’ll look to put a stem on the run fest that’s happening in the Powerplay.”

Battle of Royals

Calcutta: Rajasthan Royals will hope to expose Royal Challengers Bangalore's vulnerability against quality spin when the two sides face off in Bangalore on Sunday.

And for that, Rajasthan might unleash Adam Zampa along with Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal. For Chahal, it will be an interesting match-up against his old team.

It is also unclear if RCB captain Faf du Plessis is fully fit or will Virat Kohli again lead the team.
