Former BCCI secretary and president of Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) Amitabh Choudhary’s family has filed an FIR against the state association at Dhurwa police station in Ranchi on Monday.

Choudhary passed away on August 16, 2022.

The FIR, filed by Choudhary’s wife, alleges that various personal belongings kept inside his office at the JSCA stadium have gone missing.

The items listed as being stolen include bonds and bank deposit papers, large amounts of cash from sale of agricultural land in Bihar, gifts from the BCCI, etc.

The FIR names Debashish Chakraborty, the current JSCA secretary, treasurer Rajiv Badhan, legal advisor Rajiv Kumar Singh, former secretary Rajesh Verma, ex-vice president Ajay Nath Shah Deo among others as accused.

Neither Chakraborty nor Verma answered calls from The Telegraph or replied to WhatsApp messages.

It has been alleged that when the family members visited his office on September 15 and 16, 2022, his room was found to be locked by the JSCA officials. A day later when his son Abhishek went to the stadium, the belongings were found missing.

When enquired about his father’s missing belongings, the JSCA officials misbehaved with Abhishek and threatened him with dire consequences.

The FIR has been registered under Sections 406, 424, 379, 504 and 34 of the IPC.

Earlier in August, Abhishek had sent out a legal notice to the JSCA against their plans to install his father’s statue on his first death anniversary.

The notice asked them to immediately suspend all such plans since it “tarnishes his memory and diminishes his legacy”.

“My father would not have consented to be idolised in this manner... (since it) runs contrary to his body of work and deeper values,” he had said in a statement.
