5 test negative for Covid-19

Five attendees of the Athgaon Kabarastan Masjid congregation from Hailakandi have tested negative for Covid-19.

The joint director of health services, Ramesh Chandra Dwivedy, said of the 10 swab samples of Athgaon Kabarastan Masjid congregation attendees sent to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital, results of five turned out to be negative while the other five are awaited.

He said all the six members of the Covid-19 victim, including that of his married daughter, have tested negative.

“It’s a great relief for everyone,” said Dwivedy.

All the members of the Covid-19 victim are under quarantine at an institutional quarantine centre.

The health authorities here after holding discussions with the district administration and the state health department, will decide whether to release the 493 people who have already completed the 28-day home quarantine period.
