‘Rizz’ had captured attention in 2023. And after it was declared as the word of the year 2023 by Oxford University Press, even Google India had to post about it! But what does ‘Rizz’ mean? It is a slang term that means style, charm, or attractiveness, and the ability to attract a partner.

Curious about its origin? Multiple sources suggest it’s derived from the middle of the word ‘charisma’ and is often used as a verb, such as to ‘rizz up someone’. The term gained popularity when online influencers started incorporating it into their content.

According to Oxford University Press, it chose ‘rizz’ as the word of the year because it reflects the mood, ethos, and preoccupations of the year, and it shows how language can be shaped and shared by different communities. Now, you know!
