The recently held Arjuna Awards celebrated the brilliance of India’s finest athletes. One name that shone through was Sheetal Devi, the 16-year-old who became the first and only international para-archery champion without upper limbs. Sheetal won two golds and one silver at the 2022 Asian Para Games, and her stellar performance has drawn praise from former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh. Having won the 2011 ODI World Cup while battling cancer, Yuvi has always been a symbol of not giving up in the face of harsh adversities, and he penned a heartfelt post for Sheetal on Instagram. Not only did he recognise how Sheetal had achieved the impossible, moving past all limitations, but wished her the best for 2024, stating that she was the pride of the entire country. We couldn’t agree more!
