Jon Fosse, noted author, playwright and translator is the Nobel Prize in Literature awardee for 2023. He will receive the highest honour in literature on December 10 from King Carl XVI Gustaf, the King of Sweden, at a formal ceremony in Stockholm. The Nobel is awarded by the Swedish Academy. Last year, the award was conferred to Annie Ernaux.

Fosse’s style of writing, known as ‘Fosse minimalism’, is popular among avid bibliophiles. The 64-year-old author is often compared with Samuel Beckett. Here are a few works by the Nobel Laureate, who is “one of the most widely performed playwrights in the world” according to the Nobel Prize committee. Happy reading!
