May 2 is special for cinephiles around the world, but especially for those in Bengal. This year, the date coincides with the 102nd birth anniversary of Satyajit Ray.
To commemorate the work of the legendary filmmaker, Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI) is organising a special screening of a digitally restored version of Shatranj Ke Khilari, the only Hindi feature-film made by Ray in his illustrious career. The screening, which is scheduled for 3pm, will be followed by the Satyajit Ray Memorial Talk with Prof. N. Manu Chakravarthy at 5:30pm. The evening will conclude with a music concert by city-based indie band, Borno Anonyo.
The event is free, and open to all.
