Salil Chowdhury fans and performing arts aficionados, this is one event you can’t afford to miss

What are you doing this Friday? No plans? Well, here’s one for you then. A music and dance extravaganza is happening in Kolkata, featuring the musical duo Sourendro and Soumyajit. But that’s not all. There’s also a dance recital, helmed by ace actress and danseuse Debjani Chatterjee, joined by Arnab Bandyopadhyay. Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee will weave the narration of the performance. The dance performance is a tribute to Salil Chowdhury, as 2024 marks his birth centenary year. “Our segment of the programme is called ‘Ek Guccho Chabi’. Salil Chowdhury was such a musician, whose works have always inspired me as an artiste,” shared Debjani. The fundraising initiative is by Santoshpur Aguntuk, an NGO that works for the welfare of the specially abled, senior citizens and others.
Sourendro and Soumyajit shared, “For this evening, we shall come up with retro, folk and Tagore songs that are close to all of our hearts. It is a concert, which has been organised with great care and compassion.”
