Parno Mittrah has been keeping the ’gram lit with glimpses of her travel escapades. The self-professed beach lover has been constantly on the move, from the serene Andaman and Nicobar Islands to vibrant Dubai and recently to Sri Lanka. It was during her Sri Lanka trip that My Kolkata got in touch with her to find out what ‘holidaying Parno Mittrah style’ meant and the actress obliged. Read on…

All-girls trip, a golden tan and memories of a lifetime

When it comes to vacations, Parno likes it luxe. “I want to put myself out as a luxury traveller. I want to soak in the sun and I love beaches,” said Parno. The actress, who is currently flaunting the golden tan from her Lankan trip, added, “When I am on a holiday, I want it to be a holiday — relaxing!”

It was Parno Mittrah’s friend, now residing in Frankfurt, Germany, whose remote work setup from India enabled their Sri Lanka trip. While their first choice was a trip to Vietnam, a friend’s recommendation made the girls zero in on Sri Lanka. Parno was en route to Dubai when the Vietnam plan happened. “Before breaking my foot, we had booked our tickets, blocked the stays and were ready to go,” recalled Parno, who is still recovering from a leg injury she suffered in Dubai.

Fashion, food, fun: Parno’s inspirations

“I am a minimalist,” said Parno, when we asked her about her on-point beach fashion during her Sri Lanka trip. From beach appropriate chappals and cutesy stack neckpieces, Parno’s retail therapy was simple but made for stylish outcomes.

Sharing one realistic tip for beach enthusiasts, Parno said, “I carry things that dry up quickly because I am constantly in the pool, on the beach or engaged in various water activities.”

While her OOTDs included shorts, bikinis, bralettes, cotton shirts, monochrome pants and baggy tees, she chose a black dress for a quick and classy evening ensemble.

“Today, I choose me” — Parno’s self-care mantra

“Today, I choose ME!” Unapologetic Parno is reigning the social media space with her body positivity and self love vibes. On a path of self discovery and introspection, and reeling from a 2023 that was a mixed bag, Parno’s motto in life is to enjoy life to the fullest. “I want to have fun, do what I want to and I don’t care about anything else,” said Parno, talking about her sorry-not-sorry avatar.

Looking radiant and “living one day at a time,” Parno’s sneak peeks from her life on social media are an extension of her YOLO-meets-ZNMD vibe. “It is just me being me and looking at life from a different perspective,” reflected Parno.

A career spanning 17 years has been quite a learning experience for the Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona actress. Social media trolling is a part of it, but it is also something that she is not bothered about. “What will they troll me for? I am still living my life,” said Parno.

Eat, sleep, chill and repeat…but where?

Looking back at her trip and reliving the moments, she shared her experiences of seeing a spinner dolphin and whales. “I am still getting goosebumps,” exclaimed Parno. Expressing her desire to swim with the whales someday, she highly recommends whale and dolphin watching from Mirissa beach.

Kandy, Galle, Ahangama Beach, Welligama and Kosgoda are a few pit stops in Sri Lanka that have her heart. Among the dishes she savoured, Kotthu, the traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry, String Hoppers, Sambol, Fish Buns, Pork in Black Pepper Sauce and Lamprais are some of the delectables that she recommends.

Tips and tricks from the T-town traveller

Medicines, slippers, sunscreen, umbrella, antiseptic cream are a few essentials that Parno can’t do without while travelling. Also, apps like Pick Me and Uber are a must. As she has a soft spot for the pink and flushed look, a cheek and lip tint makes it to her pouch when she is on the go. One of the prominent actresses of the Bengali film industry, who has acted in projects like Rajkahini and Doob, prefers to keep it au naturale as much as possible.

What’s brewing on the workfront and on the wishlist?

On the work front, Parno, who has recently completed her new film Bonbibi, will also be seen in Saurav Palodhi’s Anko Ki Kothin. Before signing off, Parno shared a glimpse into her travel bucket list that includes chasing the Northern Lights, exploring Europe and visiting Vietnam.
