Tipsy Tiger — the name had got us intrigued when we got a review request for the nightclub. It was only when we stepped in to check out the place did we understand the backstory. The concept bar and club derives its name from The Royal Bengal tiger to indicate the regal, mighty conqueror of the night. Spread across 5,500sq ft, the nightclub is owned by Kunal Singh, Vikash Bhawsinghka and Mahesh Fogla and is located in the heart of Sector V. “We’re stoked to introduce our most awaited launch, Tipsy Tiger, plush yet edgy, luxurious yet cosy and timeless yet trendy! Coming from the background of lights, sound and music, we wanted to initiate some of the latest laser lights and dramatic sound techniques for an energetic nightlife for youngsters who can experience trendy gadgets like digitally controlled LED screens with message bar and more,” said Kunal. The nightclub has several private pockets, offering an intimate experience with a multi-cuisine food menu balanced with artisanal cocktails.

Right from the jungle-themed hand-painted and printed wallpaper that draws inspiration from the Sunderbans to the intricately designed wooden furniture, the iron railings on the staircase to the bar back that has beaten copper... the decor elements pay tribute to Bengal. “These iron railings we got from a North Calcutta house who were selling them off, then the bar has Ferris wheels with beaten and crushed tamba, the karigars who did all of these have a Bengal connect,” said Rakhee Jain, interior designer of Tipsy Tiger.

Clearly one of the best washrooms in the city, the ladies’ restroom is beautifully done with flowers on the walls and has basins on top of flamingos. The waiting area leading to the restrooms has black animal-print Roberto Cavalli wallpapers. “The moulds of flamingos and the panther in the men’s washroom were done at Kumartuli and then we made the fibre structure,” said Rakhee.
