With spring turning to summer, the roads and walkways near New Town’s Biswa Bangla Gate have adorned a new hue – bubblegum pink. The blooming rosy trumpet trees planted in the area, which are sometimes called cherry blossoms because of their colour and similarity to the popular pink flower, are adding an uncommon shade to the surroundings and forcing people to stop and stare

While the main road has towering trees of bubblegum pink, the service lane has ones that veer towards magenta. Together, they form the perfect photo-op
It is common to see locals gather around these flowers, but many morning walkers also have the bad habit of plucking the flowers
While pink is the dominant colour of the trees, the bushes near Biswa Bangla Gate are laden with vibrant marigolds

The buds seem to be even prettier than flowers, striking out with their bright red hue. Be prepared to hear murmurs of ‘ki shundor!’ while walking through these lanes
The blushing trees are replaced by bougainvillea as you proceed towards Eco Park. With pink bushes on one side and green trees on the other, this pathway can turn you into a poet!
Inside Eco Park, the fallen petals make the ground prettier
