PS Group, one of Calcutta’s esteemed real estate groups, has announced its latest initiative — rejuvenate and restore the Nature Study Park by Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Loudon Street. The park’s revitalisation project was undertaken with an aim to enhance visitor experiences while preserving its natural charm. The project aimed to reorganise the park’s components, introduce exciting attractions, and most importantly, incorporate elements of education centered around the study of nature.
Additionally, a captivating aeration fountain, aimed at improving water quality, has become a central point of attraction for visitors. Further, the installation of a power plant guarantees that the park remains beautifully illuminated even after sunset. The group’s commitment to education and the environment encompasses Nature Study Park, where they will organise various activities such as nature workshops, flower shows, and educational sessions for nearby schools, fostering a deeper connection with nature and improving the park experience. As Nature Study Park reopens its gates, it beckons visitors to embark on a journey of discovery, education and recreation within its serene confines.
Viewing decks, reflexology courts, and trellis walkways have been refurbished. Over 18,500 new plants have been meticulously planted to enhance the park’s lush greenery, ensuring a serene environment for visitors.
Brightly-painted children’s play area and floor games for toddlers, like hopscotch, attract the little ones to the park.
(Left) Another remarkable feature of the makeover is the transformation of the deteriorating concrete waterfront into a nature-friendly wooden pile embankment. This has not only breathed new life into the pond but has also allowed it to reconnect with the surrounding earth.
The newly-established soft pond edge has been thoughtfully adorned with a diverse range of littoral and sub-littoral plant species, enhancing the vitality of aquatic life. Solar panels have been installed to make the park more eco-friendly.
