Music composer Shantanu Moitra lost his father to COVID-19 six months ago. The National Award winner performed his father’s last rites in Varanasi, his father’s favourite place, because isolation had kept them apart even during his last days in New Delhi.

Moitra, who is undergoing a journey down the Ganga, called Songs of the River, has now reached out to those who have lost their loved ones to the pandemic and were denied "closure" by the dehumanising impact of the disease.

In a recent Instagram video, Moitra defined “isolation and loneliness” as the “biggest curse of COVID”.

And now that he is on a journey from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar, he has requested all those watching the video to send a photograph of their dear departed ones so he can bid them farewell, on behalf of everyone, at the "holiest of holy" confluence of the river and sea, Ganga Sagar.

The photographs can be shared on 8369000122 by November 20. “Kindly share this message with as many people as possible and let’s all come together to tell our departed, that they are not alone," urged Moitra.
